Steve Gales wins in the rain on the Grand Prix Circuit

Steve Gales wins in the rain at Silverstone with a last minute move on second place Pidgley.

Extreme weather conditions saw the second round of the 2020 season start behind the safety car, as conditions were deemed too tricky for the traditional standing start. This seemed to favor the front wheel drive Seats, with Steve Gales and the team of Pidgley and Jackson almost tied for the lead following the pit stop window. Gales, then trailing Pidgley, was pushing hard, and it paid off as with the checkered flag looming, Pidgely tripped over while lapping a Class D car, and allowed Gales past to take the lead, and eventual win. This place overall and in Class S went to Darren Goes, who completed a Seat lock out of the podium, with the class S BMW’s completing the top seven.

Team Darkside took the Class A win, to complete the set, with class pole and class fastest lap. The second step on the class podium was claimed by Martin Culley up from third on the grid, passing Gary Burstow had to settle for third in his BMW.

Darkside also made an assist in the Class B win, with the Team Darkside supported Michael Smith claiming the Class B win in his Seat Ibiza - the TDC 2019 Championship winning car. Aided by the post qualifying retirement of David Shead in the BMW Compact, and able to jump the Seat Leon of Kaylor and Dendy, Smith climbed from third on the grid to take victory. A strong showing by the Seat Leon duo, held second place, with the team of Getino and Martin in the Porsche taking the last podium space.

Matthew Anstiss, had another strong race to top the Class C field, and take the Class C win, ahead of both Class B and Class A machinery on the road.
